binki’s ‘Rocket Ship’ Is Imbued With Incredible Immediacy

American pan-genre trailblazer binki has shared new song ‘Rocket Ship’.

Out now, the single follows a run of red-hot live shows, including a recent opening slot for The 1975. Having played with the likes of Alex G, Gus Dapperton, King Princess, Role Model and Glass Animals, binki has also confirmed a full North American headline run.

New EP ‘Antennae’ is out on June 16th, and lead single ‘Rocket Ship’ illustrates his playful, rule-breaking approach. Meshing together different sounds, there’s an almost punk-like sense of defiance to the way binki builds pop songs.

‘Rocket Ship’ is about re-asserting your worth, and its pan-genre confidence illuminates binki’s own desire to be recognised. Switching it up once more, ‘Rocket Ship’ goes off right from the first note, building to that direct, and quietly anthemic, chorus.

binki comments…

in my personal life, I’m really easy going to the point where people can take advantage of me. I don’t really like confrontation, but typically there’s always a breaking point where things just become very clear to me. Often I’ll just cut people out of my life if I feel like they’re mistreating me or being toxic. I’m not draconian about it I wouldn’t say but you really ought to be selfish with your time and look after your mental, over anything else.

‘Rocket Ship’ is about that moment where you just realize the vibes are off, and you’re ready to go. Sometimes people try to gaslight you when this situation happens but you just gotta remain solid.

Tune in now.
