Four Tet has just shared his new song ‘Three Drums’.
The UK producer has become one-third of an electronic triumvirate, linking with Fred again.. and Skrillex to form an ad hoc supergroup. Announcing and then almost immediately selling out New York’s cavernous Madison Square Garden, the trio then descended on Coachella and gained the largest crowd of the fortnight.
Returning to solo duties, Four Tet has shared something new. Out now, ‘Three Drums’ is a wall of electronic noise, the layers of digital sound interwoven around that laid back beat.
There’s a hint of early 90s hip-hop in there, a rock solid tempo that keeps his lush, electronic permeations all held together.
An eight-minute experimentation, ‘Three Drums’ is a neat return, a salve for fans awaiting the follow-up to his 2020 album ‘Sixteen Oceans’.
