Helado Negro will release new album ‘PHASOR’ on February 9th.

The new album is the eighth full-length project in his catalogue, and it follows 2021 album ‘Far In’. The root of this incoming project owes a debt to a five-hour birthday visit to Salvatore Matirano’s SAL MAR machine at the University of Illinois. Entranced by the complex generative synthesiser, he emerged completely inspired.

“It gave me special insight into what stimulates me,” he explains. “This pursuit of constant curiosity in process and outcome. The songs are the fruit, but I love what’s under the dirt. The unseen magical process. I don’t want everybody to see it because not everyone cares to see it. Some of us just want the fruit. I do. But I want to grow the fruit, too.”

Out on February 9th via 4AD, ‘PHASOR’ features nine new tracks, with Helado Negro set to play St John at Hackney Church on November 9th as part of Pitchfork London.

Taken from the record, new single ‘LFO’ – Lupe Finds Oliveros – is out now, an immersive experience that entrances and bewilders. The video is self-directed, and borders on the hallucinatory, a transcendent visual feast.

Tune in now.
