Noel Gallagher Reveals Why He Branded Adele “F*cking Awful”

Noel Gallagher has revealed the perceived slight behind his recent rant against Adele’s music.

The songwriter raised eyebrows earlier this year, when he took aim at the current queen of pop. Chatting on Matt Morgan’s podcast, Adele creeped into the conversation – with a rattled Noel Gallagher revealing his distaste.

Probed on his favourite Adele song, Noel Gallagher dismissed the question entirely. “Fuck off, fucking hell. Name one?” he said “They’re fucking shit. It’s fucking awful. It’s fucking Cilla Black. I find it and that whole thing offensive.”

At the time, the comments went viral with Noel Gallagher then subsequently ducking out of the online outrage. He’s back on Matt Morgan’s podcast, however, chatting amiably to the host over the phone from his ongoing tour.

Discussing the furore, Noel Gallagher elected to reveal the spark for his rant. He said: “I don’t think I have ever gone out of my way to start anything, it’s always been a reaction to some fucking idiot having a go in the first place. You know me, I keep myself to myself.”

Continuing, he said that during one glitzy event Adele “sent someone over to fucking ask, ‘Did I want to meet her?’ That’s what riled me”.

Seemingly, this rubbed the Oasis legend up the wrong way. “I’m not one for causing a scene, I just stick it in the vault and just think revenge is a dish best served cold.”

However Noel Gallagher didn’t rule out writing songs for her, if the occasion should arrive. Chatting to the host, he revealed that if he ever tired of touring and simply wrote songs for people, Adele might expect something in her Inbox.

“If I fall out of love with touring, I could see myself just sitting at home writing songs and sending them to my publishers,” he said. “I might in the future. I’ll be saying, ‘Get Adele to sing that. Don’t call until she’s done the guide vocal’.”

Adele hasn’t commented on the interview.

The row joins a lengthy list of Things Noel Gallagher Doesn’t Like – from Matty Healy to Yorkshire, they’re all on there.
