Omar Apollo has shared new single ‘Ice Slippin’.
The songwriter has a real breadth to his style, absorbing from different strands of soulful musicality to forge his own voice. Debut album ‘IVORY’ landed earlier this year, with Clash labelling it “a commanding start, clearly marking out his career ambitions as he continues his journey of success. For him, this is only but the beginning.”
New single ‘Ice Slippin’ continues his rise, and finds Omar stepping beyond the confines of his celebrated debut. Out now, it was co-produced by Omar and Teo Halm, and finds the singer in reflective mode.
Dulcet of tone, refulgent in delivery, Omar has a way with words that taps straight to the heart. He shares…
“‘Ice Slippin is about reliving the thoughts I had passing through my mind the winter I came out to my family. Receiving cold judgment as opposed to the acceptance I felt I deserved. This song is a reflection and reaction of all the emotions I had to face before and after I decided to leave the icy streets of Indiana.”
