The Crystal Teardrop’s ‘By The River’ Is A Surging Piece Of Raga-Rock

The Crystal Teardrop return with new song ‘By The River’.

The band owe their roots to a chance meeting at cult London 60s event Le Beat Bespoke. A conversation on the dancefloor led to the central songwriting duo exchanging details, before returning to their native Midlands to form the full four-piece line-up.

Launching their debut single earlier this year, The Crystal Teardrop’s creative energy is testimony to the psychedelic underground that spans the Midlands, a shadow network of club nights, DJs, promoters, and vintage clothing outlets.

New single ‘By The River’ is a superb piece of raga-rock, pushing ahead by that billowing sitar line. A wild piece of psychedelic pop, the ultra-catchy vocal from Alexandra Rose is matched to a swirling mesh of lysergic sound.

A compact, explosive piece of rainbow-coloured guitar pop, ‘By The River’ has a neat retro feel, but it’s all done with a freshness, verse, and energy that is their own.

Coupled to on-going rise of Looking Glass Alice, it seems the UK psychedelic underground is in rude health right now – and long may that continue.

Catch the Crystal Teardrop at Artisan Tap, Newcastle-under-Lyme, on September 30th – find tickets online.
