The Goa Express will release their self-titled debut album later this year.

The band have lined up a string of festival appearances for summer, alongside a run of headline shows. In the coming days you can catch The Goa Express at Manchester’s YES on May 26th, before hitting The Lower Third in London on May 31st.

Clash profiled the band earlier this year with The Goa Express singer James Clarke emphasising the improvisatory nature of their songwriting: “I always write spontaneously; I don’t really think about what I’m saying as I’m saying it, it’s more melody orientated. On a deeper level I tend to write songs that sound nice in my ears. Lyrically, there’s always some sort of theme but they’re not that deep. They exist in a transitional moment as I usually write very fast and it just sticks.”

Out in October, the band’s self-titled debut album is led by excellent new single ‘Talking About Stuff’, with its wicked chorus and charming, wistful indie vibes. A full video is online now, shot at The Goa Express’ recent homecoming show at The Golden Lion in Todmorden.

Tune in now.
