JGrrey's 'Down' Leans On Her Jazz Roots

Posted by

Soulful riser JGrrey returns with new single ‘Down’.

Out now, it finds JGrrey leaning on her jazz roots, allowing this to intermingle with club tropes.

A murky, immersive glimpse into her world, ‘Down’ recalls Erykah Badu’s darker moments – think ‘Mama’s Gun’ – given a decidedly UK-centric twist.

Constructed alongside studio collaborator Owen Cutts, the agile vocal performance is packed with emotional nuance.

‘Down’ also comes backed with a startling video, one that channels her love of 80s Japanese horror flicks.

She comments…

“I’d like to take credit for making “Down”, but actually… I think the song just happened to me at a time I needed it. I directed the music video and JAW produced and collaborated on it with me.”

Tune in now.
