Fabolous is known as one of the best freestyle rappers in the game, and it appears his son Jonas was born with the skill when footage of him busting out a few bars surfaced online a few months ago. Some felt Fab could pass the torch on to his son when he was ready, but that’ll be a long time coming after the Brooklyn rapper dropped a new freestyle.
On Monday (June 27), Fabolous unleashed a new track and accompanying music video for “Reposado Poetry.” In the music video, the 44-year-old rapper vacationed in the Canary Islands as he laid waste to the beat from Drake’s lush Certified Lover Boy opener, “Champagne Poetry.”
Fab wasted no time addressing fans who felt his son would take his spot one day with the freestyles. He even jokingly challenged the youngster to respond to the track.
“Y’all thought I was gonna let Jonas outdo me,” Fabolous said to open the song. “Jonas you got 24 hours to respond or I’m the freestyle champ.”
Fans with a keen ear will remember Fab recording Jonas rapping on the same beat while riding around in a car earlier this month. Fabolous’ peers such as Fat Joe, Dave East and Bobby Shmurda left fire emojis in the comments section of the rapper’s post to give their stamps of approval regarding Jonas’ freestyle skills.
“APPLE JUICE POETRY,” Fab wrote in the caption of his post. “@mrjonasjackson #DidHeSayHeWentToGetABrickAndThenGotAGrip #JonasFreestyles #OffTheTop #NoWrittens #IJustThrowOnAInstrumentalAndHeStartGoingIn.”
