FKA twigs Releases New Album EUSEXUA Afterglow & EUSEXUA Deluxe Edition On The Same Day

Back in January, FKA twigs finally released her long-promised, very good album EUSEXUA. Unless we’re counting CAPRISONGS, which is officially designated as a mixtape, EUSEXUA was the first new twigs album in six years. So it was a little confusing when twigs announced something called EUSEXUA Afterglow in August. Despite the title, EUSEXUA Afterglow is an entirely different album, not a deluxe edition. She meant all of that. Today, EUSEXUA Afterglow is out on the world. On the very same day, twigs has also released a deluxe edition of original-recipe EUSEXUA with four new songs.

FKA twigs has been building up to the release of EUSEXUA Afterglow for a little while now, sharing the singles “cheap hotel” and “Predictable Girl” and getting together with PinkPantheress to perform their duet “Wild And Alone” in Brooklyn. It still feels strange to say that EUSEXUA Afterglow is now a real album that exists, but that’s what’s up. On first listen, EUSEXUA Afterglow exists within the same sonic universe as OG EUSEXUA, but it’s a little harder and less direct. PinkPantheress is the only guest on the album, and the production and songwriting credits aren’t available yet. Hear EUSEXUA Afterglow for yourself below.

Confoundingly enough, twigs has also chosen this day to release a deluxe edition or EUSEXUA. Or maybe you’d have to consider it a revised version, since she has reshuffled the tracklist and taken a bunch of songs off, in addition to adding some. There’s also that new nightmare-ass cover art above. Along with “Perfectly,” the single that she released over the summer, this new EUSEXUA includes new songs “The Dare,” “Got To Feel,” and “Lonely But Exciting Road,” as well as a version of the EUSEXUA track “Striptease” that now features Eartheater. Someone thought that first song title was funny.

It must be noted that “The Dare” is a really, really good song — probably my initial favorite of the many new tracks that FKA twigs has released today. Hear all four new songs below.
