A year in the making, the project sees the Mexican producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist treat the studio as a space for free-flowing experimentation. Gathering field recordings, lyric snippets and voice notes in a collage-like fashion, Oriana Gidi walks her listener through a bright, cinematic offering.
Her second self-produced album imagines fresh and unexpected new pathways, dabbling in pop, ambient and percussive rhythms. It’s an extension of Gidi’s work in film scoring, which has seen her piece together soundtracks for political thrillers to stop-motion comedies.
In turn, Gidi now re-positions herself as a well-travelled auteur, allowing for her sonic musings to accompany the seasonal shine.
