Posted by Black Lives In Music have launched a new survey that aims to drive change and provide solutions to problems on the ground.
The organisation wants to reach out to Black musicians across the country, providing a complete insight into their lives and everyday challenges.
Using this data, Black Lives In Music then wish to address a lack of opportunity, and expose the barriers placed in front of Black musicians.
Online now, the survey builds on Black Lives In Music’s mission statement:
“We are at the vanguard of the effort to combat racism, uniting organisations and musicians to create a truly inclusive and diverse music industry. We use data and insights to campaign for equity and we support the empowerment of Black musicians to realise their aspirations.”
In a press statement, Black Lives In Music note that the proportion of UK conservatoire teaching staff of ethnic background is just 2.1%, while African Caribbean communities are three times more likely to be diagnosed and admitted to hospital for a severe long-term mental health conditions than any other group.
