Bobby Gillespie is the fifth face of Clash 118.
Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie is the ultimate iconoclast, someone whose catalogue moves from punk rebellion to rave euphoria, a continual act of renewal and regeneration.
Refusing to make the same record twice, his latest project finds Bobby – in his words – attempting to “put the pain back into music”.
Constructed alongside Savages’ singer and renowned solo artist Jehnny Beth, new album ‘Remember We Were Lovers’ dips into his country, blues, and soul influences, producing stark poetry of existence on the fringes.
Opening up to Clash, Bobby Gillespie talks about his working class roots in Glasgow, his need to speak his mind, and why simple truths are the most profound.
“If you live in the past you’re condemned to rotting there. You’ve got to be open to the present and live in the moment.”
Also featured in this magazine are Gorillaz, IDK, Mahmood, Madison Beer, incendiary West London rapper Central Cee, BRIT Award winning alt-pop auteur Griff, left-field voyager Laurie Anderson, returning goddess Laura Mvula, Stalk Ashley, Rochelle Jordan, and more.
