Cult Scottish songwriter Ian Donaldson has evolved through numerous iterations over the years.
In the 80s he led late night radio favourites H20, while the musician was also a member of punk group SKROO.
Now operating alone, Ian Donaldson crossed paths with Creation founder Alan McGee over lockdown, renewing a decade’s old friendship.
Receiving renewed support, the songwriter’s new single ‘All I Have Is Forever’ is out now on McGee’s new venture, It’s Creation Baby.
A song that is fantastical in its word play and swooping in its melodic use, ‘All I Have Is Forever’ binds Ian Donaldson’s work with Dublin musician Craig Walker.
Ian explains: “This is my first co-write with Dublin legend Craig Walker and released on Alan McGee’s new label It’s Creation Baby. ‘All I Have Is Forever’ is about an Angel who would give anything to be human and trade in immortality to feel the sun on his skin – to experience love, loss, hurt, joy and family…”
The video was constricted by Andy Lenihan from Stage Storm, and it’s a deft play on the lyrical content.
The singer continues: “We explored the idea in a visual way within the context of the angel visiting a human home – always destined to be on the outside. Never to be part of one.”
Tune in now.
