Posted by Holy ’57 just completed a quartet of EPs, one of his most ambitious projects to date.
Each using a one letter title, ‘H’, ‘O’, and ‘L’ was completed by ‘Y’, and it contained some personal revelations.
Out now, ‘Y’ was rooted in the life of his grandmother, with the songwriter – real name Alex Mankoo – delving into some potent autobiographical observations.
Taken from the EP, new song ‘Diorama’ has gained a full video, and it continues these personal themes.
The clip also features his cousin, and finds Holy ’57 moving between vintage frames and modern-day London settings.

“I wrote most of ‘Y’ in the wake of my Grandmother’s death, so the idea of posthumous memory played a big part in shaping the songs. I find it really interesting how memory operates as a sort of reconstructed version of the past through the lens of our minds in the present. Posthumous memory can sometimes iron out complexities that existed when a person was alive, and it becomes almost like a simulation of the person.”
