Joya Mooi has shared the full video for her new single ‘Good Girl’.
The Amsterdam based talent made her mark earlier this year, sharing a string of jazz-leaning cuts.
Soulful vocals with a hip-hop vibe, she’s building towards a full EP while working in her own lane.
New single ‘Good Girl’ is out now, a vibrant return that finds Joya playfully breaking out of the societal norms placed around her.
She comments…
“‘Good Girl’ is an ode to disobedience. We’re moulded from an early age to behave, not to cuss, be slightly attractive – but not too much. I think when I was young I could feel the subtleties, the ways I felt restrained. Still sadly enough I think I still internalised some. These patriarchal manners suppress self-expression and emancipation.”
33Bound’s Natalie Wilson directs the video, with the clip moving between Brixton and New Cross in South London, featuring Joya (and her girl gang) shooting hoops.
Tune in now.
