The new film is titled Dale Barclay: All On Black, and it depicts an artist who resolutely refused to compromise.
Dale Barclay founded and led Amazing Snakeheads, a truly incredible live band who lit up Glasgow’s music scene.
Signing to Domino, they managed to release only one studio album – the seismic ‘Amphetamine Ballads’ – before collapsing in on themselves.
Dale Barclay later formed And Yet It Moves, before sadly dying from brain cancer in 2018.
Only 32 years old at the time of his death, Dale Barclay remains a pivotal figure for a generation of Glasgow musicians, a much-loved figure whose impact is very real on the lives he touched.
New film Dale Barclay: All On Black airs on the BBC Scotland channel on April 27th, before moving to inlayer for 12 months from April 28th.
Contributions include Dale’s widow Laura, Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos, BBC Radio host and new music champion Vic Galloway, and Fat White Family’s Lias Sauodi. We’ve got some stills from the documentary – check them up top.
