Phoebe Bridgers has placed her smashed Danelectro guitar up for auction.
The songwriter appeared on Saturday Night Live earlier this year, and at the climax of her set smashed up her guitar.
The move involved a pleasing thump on a fake monitor, with guitar brand Danelectro having seemingly given Phoebe Bridgers their permission.
Somewhat strangely, the performance seemed to spark a culture war discourse, with a number of high profile – overwhelmingly male – figures lining up to criticise her behaviour.
David Crosby – no stranger to breaking rules himself – was particularly aggrieved, sparking a memorable clap-back from Phoebe Bridgers.
Now the guitar is up for auction, part of the GLAAD Media Awards; you can get involved HERE and the current bid stands at $5500.
The note says: “Phoebe Bridgers made music history when she smashed her guitar on the Saturday Night Live stage during her performance of ‘I Know The End’. Take home the ultimate concert keepsake and turn your home into a personal Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!”
