The single is their first new release since 2017’s excellent ‘V’ album, and it trails an incoming EP of the same name.
Out on March 12th, the three track EP will be available digitally, and on blood red vinyl.
New single ‘Lout’ channels industrial noise, splattering their visceral songwriting with elements of Throbbing Gristle and Nine Inch Nails.
Tortured sonics writhe underneath Faris’ confrontational vocal, with the frontman commenting: “‘Lout’ is about the relationship between choice and chance, compulsive risk-taking and pushing your luck. As a band, particularly live, we’ve always had an aggressive side and as we began writing new songs it became clear that we were heading in that direction.”
Tom Furse adds: “There’s something about it which feels like a return to a heavier sound but really it’s a million miles away from anything we’ve done. Keeping the sound aggressive and the beats heavy was a central tenet, everything seemed to fall around that.”
Rhys Webb contrasts ‘Lout’ with debut album ‘Strange House’ labelling it “an intense barrage of industrial noise. A return to the spirit and attitude of our debut LP but blasted into the future…”
