Lorde joined Marlon Williams to cover a Bruce Springsteen classic last night (March 31st).
Marlon Williams was playing Hollywood Avondale in the New Zealand city, when he revealed a surprise guest.
Lorde then emerged, and the pair played a spartan duet, a neat take on Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Tougher Than The Rest’.
Inverting the bombast of the 1987 original, it’s a touching moment from two Clash faves who exist in entirely separate spheres.
It’s a curious thing: not only has New Zealand avoided the colossal UK death toll, but they’ve also got actual, genuine, headline-making gigs happening…
One final thing to note: The Boss is actually a Lorde fan, and performed her breakout single ‘Royals’ back in 2014.
