The next Verzuz battle has been set for next month and this time, 2 Chainz and Rick Ross will go head-to-head to determine who has more hits. But judging by a recent Instagram post, the artist formerly known as Tity Boi is well aware Hip Hop fans seem to think the Maybach Music Group boss will walk away with the crown.
On Wednesday (July 29), Chainz shared a meme that pits the two rap heavyweights against each other. As noted in the post, Chainz has accumulated one No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, zero No. 1 songs on the Hot 100, two Top 10 hits and 39 Hot 100 songs overall.
Ross, on the other hand, has clocked five No. 1 albums, 0 Hot 100 No. 1 hits, two Top 10 songs and 49 tracks on the Hot 100 overall.
Taking this into account, Chainz simply wrote “Interesting” in the caption.

Chainz’s career kicked off in 2004 when he appeared on the Infamous 20 single “Fightin’ In The Club” with Chingy and Lil Fate. His first mixtape, Me Against The World, was released in 2007, which eventually led to a deal with Def Jam Recordings. His inaugural studio album Based on a T.R.U. Story dropped in 2012 and was followed by five additional studio albums, culminating with 2020’s No Face, Case with T.R.U.
Meanwhile, Ross started to gain national notoriety in 2006 when he released “Hustlin’.” Like Chainz, Ross signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Def Jam and his debut album Port of Miami landed in 2006. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Verzuz co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz recently partnered up with Apple Music to improve the virtual experience. Early iterations of the Instagram Live events were marred by technical difficulties as evidenced by the Teddy Riley and Babyface matchup — but the platform has leveled up.
Episodes will be simulcast live on Apple Music and Beats 1 simultaneously as the Verzuz Instagram Live channel. They will also be exclusively available via Apple Music on-demand following the live stream. Apple Music is planning to work alongside Swizz and Timbo to produce new episodes of Verzuz to “continue giving fans a truly premium, high quality shared experience.”
While not everyone is convinced Ross will crush Chainz, Twitter is heavily in Ross’ corner. The 2 Chainz versus Rick Ross Verzuz event takes place on Thursday (August 6) at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Apple Music and the official Verzuz Instagram page.
