In his newest video for “Free B.G.,” 2 Chainz sought to honor the legacy of the incarcerated Cash Money rapper B.G. Throughout the video, 2 Chainz raps amongst a plethora of beautiful women while ATV’s perform donuts and flamethrowers pop off in the background.
The Terrius Mykel-directed video is the latest visual to emerge from Tity Boi’s new album Dope Don’t Sell Itself and comes after the Hot Boys rapper was denied early release from prison last July.
On July 9, 2021, a federal judge rejected a petition filed by B.G. asking for early release. In the 11-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan claimed the rapper had not “presented compelling and extraordinary reasons for his compassionate release,” and wrote he’d remain behind bars until his sentence concluded in 2024.
While B.G.’s petition claimed he was a changed man, Morgan pointed to his prison record, which contained multiple infractions which to her demonstrated the opposite.
“Dorsey argues he has been rehabilitated and is no longer the same person who committed these offenses,” Morgan wrote in the ruling. “His prison record belies such an argument.”
Aside from saluting the Cash Money lyricist, 2 Chainz has been hard at work promoting his new record. Dope Don’t Sell Itself dropped on Friday (February 4) and features appearances from Lil Baby, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo, Roddy Ricch, 42 Dugg and more. Since Friday, Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. has already hailed the record as a classic.
“A n-gga said Toni made a classic… a classic!” N.O.R.E. said in a post to his Instagram Story on Sunday (February 6). “Not one of y’all hatin’ muthafuckas told me that Toni made a muthafuckin’ classic! 2 Chainz album [a] classic. I’ma go on the road and say that, and I’ma back this shit up.
“2 Chainz ain’t even do Drink Champs, but I’m telling you, when the props is due, the props is due. Good fucking work!”
