420 With Curren$y Includes NFT Only 'Financial District' EP & Virtual Backstage Session

Following his sensational appearance in JAY-Z’s Hype Williams-directed MONOGRAM ad campaign, Curren$y is staging a hazy entrance into the emerging cryptocurrency space of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with his upcoming 4/20 release.

What Is NFT & How Are Rappers Such As Post Malone, Lil Yachty, Azealia Banks – Even The Late MF DOOM – Cashing In?

On Tuesday (April 20), Curren$y’s fans will have the opportunity to purchase his new seven-track Financial District EP, which will double as their invitation to an exclusive virtual smoke session backstage with Spitta at his upcoming 4/20 concert in Houston.

For three days starting April 20 at 4:20pm EST, fans will have a chance the purchase Financial District EP NFT during an online sale on the official Jet life website powered by the crypto technology of music NFT company Bondly Finance.

Along with a one-of-a-kind “musically inspired,” art auction piece designed by 3D NFT animation graphic artist Kid Eight, the NFT sale features three tiers at different price points to offer fans an array of affordable options. The winning bid of the art auction will also receive flights and hotel accommodations for a meet with Curren$y at a future event.

Tier one includes the full 7-song EP and a 4/20 “Smoke Pass,” as well as two rare NFT’s depicting Curren$y Lowrider NFT and the iconic Jet Life Chain. The next tier groups a 5-song selection from the EP, a 4/20 Smoke Pass and the Curren$y Lowrider NFT — while the final tier serves solely as a 4/20 “Smoke Pass.”

Curren$y’s Financial District EP NFT marks the Louisiana rapper’s first cryptocurrency moves, and follows recent NFT drops from artists such as Jeezy and 6ix9ine, among others. Though Spitta’s NFT release bares similarities to other artists’ token releases, like Post Malone’s World Beer Pong League NFT with cryptocurrency firm Fyooz, his Financial District EP NFT is unique because it combines multiple mediums including the live concert,  digital art and curated experience.

NFT’s are like collectible sports cards and essentially serve as a digital certificate of authenticity for “an object, real or virtual,” a tech expert recently penned in the L.A. Times. In theory, an artist can utilize a NFT to create a virtual concert experience or use it as a collectible token that gives its owners access to a virtual or physical performance of the same kind.

With well over two million monthly listeners on Spotify, a fully independent record label and thriving lifestyle brand already within his wheelhouse, Curren$y believes his upcoming NFT drop is the perfect way to continue to build the legacy of his Jet Life imprint.

“Jet Life is a brand that you can believe in,” Curren$y said in a press release.

“Jet Life has always been at the forefront of using technology and alternative distribution models, so dropping an exclusive NFT only EP for my most passionate fans and then inviting them to a virtual smoke session with me backstage before my show in Houston on 4/20 is synonymous with my brand.”
