50 Cent lost a whopping 54 pounds to play a football player diagnosed with cancer for the 2011 Mario Van Peebles-directed film All Things Fall Apart. A decade later, photos from his dramatic transformation started making the rounds online and people were quick to make jokes.
On Saturday (August 28), the television executive shared an Instagram post of a headline that read, “REMEMBER WHEN 50 CENT LOST 55 POUNDS FOR A MOVIE THAT NOBODY WATCHED.”
He fired back in the caption, “see how people make fun of discipline, but can’t even lose weight to look good. Then if you call them fat your shaming them. get the fuck out.”

During an interview with Parade Magazine at the time, 50 Cent explained he only took the role out of respect for his friend who’d passed away from cancer.
“I had so much muscle on me that it was hard for me to lose definition even as I got lighter and slimmer,” he said per HuffPost. “I started running to suppress my appetite. Toward the end it was really difficult. It was like, if I don’t get close enough to what my best friend looked like to me at that point before he passed, then I’m not doing the story any justice.”
50 Cent went from 214 pounds to 160 in nine weeks after liquid dieting and running on a treadmill three hours a day. He said it was “a lot tougher” than dropping to 157 after he was shot in 2000 and could only consume liquids.
“I had to discipline myself not to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt,” he said. “It’s a passion project for me.”
These days, 50 Cent is back to top physical form, albeit 10 years older. Judging by his photos though, he still hits the gym regularly.
