Action Bronson has announced the follow-up to 2020’s Only For Dolphins. Titled Cocodrillo Turbo, the project boasts features from Conway The Machine, Roc Marciano, Hologram, Meyhem Lauren along with production from The Alchemist, Daringer, Roc Marciano and Bronson himself.
To coincide with the announcement, the Flushings, Queens native has shared the first video from the project, “SubZero,” which adheres to an apocalyptic theme involving tsunamis, explosives, crocodiles and Bronson’s boogie board. The short film takes him to the desert as The Alchemist drives a Mad Max-styled vehicle and then back to the ocean where he’s the crocodile king.
“I first came up with this album while in the water,” he said in a press release. “I’ve spent many lifetimes in the water. I’m just a water man. I was born in the water, I’m a water sign.”
Action Bronson has released six solo albums throughout the course of his career, beginning with 2011’s Dr. Lecter. The former gourmet chef is also the host of the wildly popular cooking series Fuck That’s Delicious on Viceland, The Untitled Action Bronson Show and had a brief stint hosting the now-canceled Traveling the Stars: Action Bronson and Friends Watch ‘Ancient Aliens’.
Despite his tenure in the game, he said he doesn’t feel like he’s “given the fucking respect that [he] deserves.”
But Action Bronson has made significant strides in other areas of his life. Since becoming a father, he’s dropped over 125 pounds from his 5’9″ frame. Pushing over 400 pounds at one point, Bronson knew he had to get healthy for the sake of his infant son.
Speaking to Men’s Health in December 2020, he explained, “You always want to be around for your family. It wasn’t going to happen unless I made that decision myself, and, you know, it takes some soul-searching and some shit to really bother you. Like something that really gets under your skin to make that change. That happened to me.”
Cocodrillo Turbo is scheduled for an April 29 release. Until then, check out the “SubZero” video above.
