Dragon Ball Z played a vital role in the lives of people who grew up in the ’90s. The Japanese anime has been going on for nearly 30 years and continues to grow its fanbase with each passing generation. One of the show’s biggest fans got to meet one of the most popular characters over the weekend and couldn’t contain their excitement.
On Saturday (March 20), a video of Big Sean and his mother meeting Sean Schemmel, the voice actor behind the iconic Goku, surfaced online. Sean’s mother told Schemmel how much her son loved the popular anime show.
“It was just amazing,” she said regarding Sean’s obsession. “He loved loved loved loved and still loves, I guess, Dragon Ball Z.”
Big Sean chimed in, “Still loves it? Even more now.”

Schemmel was happy to hear how the anime had an impact on Sean and tied the rapper’s love with those all over the world who tuned in to the Akira Toriyama-created show.
“My director would be like, you know, for the children, and I got that concept in my head,” Schemmel told Big Sean and his mom. “So I didn’t know Big Sean, I didn’t know any of these kids, but in my head, I’m thinking that little kid needs to be flipping out and I have to make them believe this guy is real, so I just threw myself into it.”
Schemmel then did the iconic power-up scream that so many kids have tried to imitate and it appeared Sean, his mom and friends were delighted to hear the real cry in person.
Sean Don has been taking a page out of Goku’s book with the training he’s been doing to get the ripped body he’s been showing off lately. Last month, the Detroit 2 star took to his Instagram to highlight a new muscular body he’s built over quarantine.
“Had to start catching up to my potential…,” Sean wrote in the caption. “Last pic a reminder to myself to keep this shit up.”
