Los Angeles, CA – Blueface has been forced to bail on his celebrity boxing match against former NBA player Nick Young — but the verbal jabs are still flying.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles rapper was denied a professional boxing license from the California State Athletic Commission on Tuesday (September 7).
A letter from the commission informed Blueface that his application would not be granted until he appears before the organization in October.
The “Thotiana” rapper was scheduled to fight Swaggy P at L.A.’s Banc of California Stadium on Saturday night (September 10), but now promoters are scrambling to find a last-minute replacement for the card, which is headlined by YouTubers Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib.
Young, who last played in the NBA in 2018 for the Denver Nuggets, reacted to the news by taking a jab at Blueface and his often violent relationship with girlfriend Chrisean Rock.
“He too busy getting his ass whoop[ed] outside the ring so who wanna take his place?” the former Los Angeles Laker joked on his Instagram Stories.
In an interview with TMZ he added: “He been getting knocked out by his girl every day so I think that kinda steered him away from me, kinda scared probably … I think Blueface is too in love right now.”
Blueface’s fighting career has been plagued by postponements. His since-canceled fight with Nick Young was originally scheduled for July, while he was also removed from the recent KSI fight card in London, where he was supposed to face professional gamer FaZe Temperrr.
As for his whirlwind romance with Chrisean Rock, the 25-year-old took several punches to the face from his girlfriend in Scottsdale, Arizona last month, resulting in Rock’s arrest.
Weeks prior, the couple were filmed physically fighting on a Hollywood street. Both took swings at each other but failed to land anything significant. The LAPD is still reportedly investigating the incident.
Blueface also welcomed the birth of a baby girl with his ex-girlfriend Jaidyn Alexis in August.
