NBA YoungBoy raps like he has nothing to lose. The bravado he communicates through his music is that of someone who doesn’t seem to sweat potential consequences. Case in point, the Baton Rouge native’s latest single “I Hate YoungBoy” is littered with disses aimed at his contemporaries.
The song arrived in February within hours of Lil Durk’s “AHHH HA” single, which included a few lines directed at YoungBoy. Consequently, the 22-year-old called out Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Boosie Badazz and 21 Savage, among others. “Feel like Boosie don’t even like me,” YoungBoy raps. “Bitch, don’t call my phone (Fuck you).”
Now, fellow Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz has seemingly responded with his own song titled “I Don’t Call Phones I Call Shots” in which he spits, “If you felt that way why didn’t you call me on my phone number?/Don’t speak on me no more, you know I don’t go for that/Keep it real dog, you a hoe for that.”
Considering Boosie’s recent interview with VladTV, he’ll probably keep his grievances to wax. When asked about the Kodak Black shooting in West Hollywood last month, Boosie wasn’t too interested in discussing the topic, although he did explain how he moves whenever he visits Los Angeles.
“I don’t know if that was the situation, but when I’m out in public, you always gotta be worried about [things] when you develop a past like that,” he said. “That’s why my most peaceful times [are] at my crib. When I’m out in the street, regardless of what I’m doing, I’m looking over my shoulder. I got a life of looking over my shoulder.”
He added, “That’s where all the rappers get robbed, you know, they can’t protect you in L.A. I only go to L.A. to take care of something, get money, get money on business terms. I’m at Universal Studios, I’m trying to get money. Wherever I’m at, I’m not in the streets in L.A. I don’t really got nobody to protect me in L.A. but me.”
The back-and-forth shots are a strange turn for Boosie Badazz and NBA YoungBoy’s relationship. In March 2021, Boosie stood up for YoungBoy as talk show Wendy Williams dragged him for his weapons arrest. He even called for his release from prison. Check out the tweets below.
