Bow Wow emphatically stated he wasn’t into the idea of doing a Verzuz battle despite public pressure on Twitter to go head-to-head with Soulja Boy.
On Monday (July 27), the rapper/actor tweeted, “How soulja makes fun turnt music. I make r&b hip hop music for the ladies. How is that a good match up? You gone crank that one minute then the next cry over an ex. Thats an emotional roller coaster.”

Bow Wow added he simply didn’t “want to” battle anyone — no matter who it is.
Once Verzuz co-creator Timbaland heard about the “Let Me Hold You” artist’s disinterest in participating in the popular Instagram series, he had his own theory. Simply put, Timbo suggested his catalog doesn’t meet the 20-hit minimum requirement.
“He mite not have 20 n the bag,” he wrote.

Of course, Bow Wow took issue with Timbo’s comment and fired back with, “@timbaland you been drinking too much ciroc. 20? Timbo you betta stop playing w/ me. I can give you 10 before i hit my 3rd album. The Bow Wow era was nothing to play w/ Ima let the people tell you about me tho.”
Bow Wow continued defending himself with another tweet that read, “Yo! @Timbaland said i might not have 20 songs to do a verzuz… i LAUGHED.”

The 33-year-old later retweeted a list of 21 of his greatest hits but said there were a few missing, including “Oh I Think They Like Me” and “I’m A Flirt.”
“What about: Oh i think they like me,” he wrote. “Where the party at remix. Destiny child remix. Ima flirt. Theres more…. 3-6 mafia side to side we past 20 right?”

Bow Wow began rapping at the age of six under the moniker Kid Gangsta. In 1993, while performing at a show in Los Angeles, he caught the attention of Snoop Dogg who ultimately started calling him Lil Bow Wow. He subsequently appeared on Snoop’s Doggystyle album cut “Gz and Hustlas” and in the “Gin and Juice” music video.
At 11 years old, he met Jermaine Dupri and the rest is history. His debut album Beware of the Dog arrived in 2000 and he’s pumped out six additional studio albums in the years since.
At the same time, Bow Wow’s acting career began to flourish and he’s appeared in several successful films, including 2002’s Like Mike and 2005’s Roll Bounce. He currently stars in Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta.
