Hot 97’s DJ Drewski links with Pop Smoke’s Woo crew member Rah Swish and popular Instagram personality and rapper Ron Suno for his sophomore single, “MOP.”
Directed by Picture Perfect, the Belly-inspired video finds the trio hiding a body following a shooting – à la the restaurant scene from the Hip Hop classic 1998 film that starred Nas, DMX, Method Man and TLC’s T-Boz. In a statement, Drewski explained why embracing the Brooklyn drill movement was important on this record.
“With the Drill movement going so crazy in NYC right now, it was only right to take the next two hottest artists from Brooklyn and Bronx and put them on a record together,” Drewski said. “‘MOP’ to me feels and sounds like the streets of NYC youth right now!”
The track follows Drewski’s debut single “Water,” featuring Dream Doll, Rubi Rose and Detroit’s Molly Brazy, which has amassed over one million YouTube views since its June 30 release.
