Dr. Dre’s strenuous divorce case has finally come to a close. According to TMZ, Dre and his ex-wife Nicole Young have come to a property settlement agreement where the West Coast Hip Hop legend will pay Young $100 million.
Nicole Young and Dr. Dre tied the knot in 1996 and she officially filed for divorce from the Beats By Dre mogul after 24 years in June 2020. While Dr. Dre’s net worth is estimated to be around $820 million, Young was only awarded $100 million because of a prenup which she contested throughout the divorce proceedings.
Dre will reportedly pay Young $50 million now and another $50 million in December 2022. He’ll be keeping the seven properties they owned in his name which includes the $100 million Brentwood estate. The Compton native will retain ownership of his master recordings, Apple stock, trademarks, partnerships and trusts.
The settlement bars Nicole Young from receiving spousal support going forward. He was previously paying her $350,000 per month in temporary support throughout the divorce.
She’ll take four of the 10 cars in their luxurious fleet, along with jewelry and the cash she managed in bank accounts throughout their union.
Dr. Dre scored a major victory when a California judge ruled that Dre won’t end up having to pick up the tab for his ex-wife’s legal fees. As far as his dating status, Dr. Dre was also ruled legally single in April with an ability to re-marry as he pleases. He was rumored to be in a relationship with Apryl Jones earlier in 2021.
