Drake loves his Toronto Raptors. The connection Drake has with his team goes deeper than the global ambassador position he currently holds. Drake is a regular at games and has developed friendships with current and former players like Fred VanVleet and Demar DeRozan.
With the NBA off-season going into full effect with the draft and free agency period, Drake is welcoming new players and saying goodbye to even more. On Sunday (August 1), Drake invited the Raptors’ new rookies Scott Barnes and Dalano Banton to his Toronto home for a chill session. The link-up also happened on Barnes’ 20th birthday.

With two new additions comes a departure to the Raptors team. On Monday (August 2), longtime Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry was shipped to the Miami Heat in a sign-and-trade deal. Lowry was a six-time all-star with the Raptors and helped the team win an NBA championship in 2019. Drizzy took to his Instagram Story to send off Lowry with a pair of images.
“@kyle_lowry7 the city is yours eternally and we wish you the best in south beach…,” Drake wrote alongside a picture of him, Lowry and Derozan posing for a photoshoot. “We will continue to celebrate you.”

Before toasting to Lowry’s nine years in Toronto, Drake took time over the weekend to announce his next album, Certified Lover Boy was complete. Drake hopped on SiriusXM’s Sound 42’s Fri Yiy Friday radio show as a special guest and revealed the news.
“Album’s cooked,” Drake began. “Looking forward to delivering it to you. I hope everybody in the world is blessed. I hope everybody has their drinks, everyone’s locked in. Good vibes and good energy for this weekend.”
He added, “And for the rest of you heathens, I wanna tell you, ’cause I know you’re listening, don’t trouble people’s kids, don’t bother people’s soul. OVO, we aim for that head. We don’t aim to please. Certified Lover Boy on the way. And that’s for anyone in the way.”
