J. Cole has been torturing his fans with the impending release of The Fall Off, the long awaited follow-up to HipHopDX’s 2018 Album of the Year KOD — but a date has yet to be announced. On Monday (February 1), fellow Dreamville Records artists EarthGang revealed when that day does finally arrive, they’ll be dropping an album right along with the Dreamville boss.

“Aye we dropping same day @JColeNC dropping,” their tweet read. When someone accused them of being disrespectful, EarthGang replied, “Who doesn’t want TWO classics in one day?” But unfortunately for Cole fans, EarthGang didn’t include a release date for their project either.

Cole has been more active on social media in recent months, leading fans to believe the highly anticipated album is right around the corner. In December 2020, Cole shared an Instagram post detailing his tentative release plans.

The post included a photo of a notebook with “The Fall Off Era” written across the top. Below the header, he wrote “Features,” “ROTD3” — which are both crossed out — “The Off Season,” “It’s A Boy” and “The Fall Off.”

He wrote in the caption, “I still got some goals I gotta check off for’ I scram…”

Cole, EarthGang and the rest of the Dreamville posse unveiled the compilation album Revenge of the Dreamers III in July 2019. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 115,412 total album- equivalent units in its opening week, but it’s unclear when The Off Season, It’s A Boy and, of course, The Fall Off are going to arrive.

EarthGang’s latest full-length project, Mirrorland, was released in 2019. The project peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard 200.
