Dreamville Rappers EarthGang Talk Channeling UGK & Outkast ‘Energy’ On ‘Amen’ Single

Atlanta rap duo EarthGang sat down with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to break down “AMEN,” the latest single off their forthcoming album Ghetto Gods that was partially inspired by UGK’s “Int’l Players Anthem” with Outkast.

“We watched the ‘Int’l Player’s Anthem’ video before we started making this beat. Shoutout Outkast, UGK… it’s a total vibe, a total love for music and the energy,” the pair told Zane Lowe.

They added that they hoped to bring a similar UGK energy with “AMEN,” and spoke on how the track is meant to inspire people to have fun.

“We spent so much time outside during the pandemic – Atlanta low-key never shut down,” the Dreamville signees said. “Everywhere we went we was having a good time and enjoy ourselves. So we want people to enjoy themselves when they heard this record. Never waste a moment to celebrate life. We was living it up the whole time.”

EarthGang’s “AMEN” is the latest single to drop from Ghetto Gods following the release of “All Eyes On Me”  and “American Horror Story,” and comes after their sophomore album was once again delayed from its already rescheduled release date of January 28.

“We put our life into this album and want it to see the light of day,” EarthGang wrote on Instagram on January 29. “Unfortunately we can’t control everything. Our date was our date and all week we were frustrated and sad that our album wasn’t cleared.” The album, after multiple delays, is finally slated to drop on Friday (February 25).

“AMEN” also features some riffing from Philadelphia crooner Musiq Soulchild, who is fresh off his Tuesday (February 15) Verzuz battle against Anthony Hamilton.
