Posted by Flags across the Bronx are being flown at half-staff on Tuesday (July 19) after Showtime confirmed that Desus & Mero wouldn’t be returning for a fifth season as hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have parted ways to pursue separate endeavors.
“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward,” a Showtime spokesperson relayed to Variety. “Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season.”

Desus and Mero first linked up at Complex in late 2013. They launched their widely-successful Bodega Boys podcast in 2015 and then took their talents to VICE for Desus & Mero in 2016.
The Bronx-bred, award-winning duo eventually fled VICE in 2018 for broader pastures at Showtime, where they held steady for four seasons from 2019 through 2022.

Throughout the decorated series, Desus and Mero interviewed talent from all walks of life, including former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, radio legend Mike Francesa, Wiz Khalifa, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington and more.
Fans of the show were heartbroken at the news after rumors of a possible break-up began to circulate on social media and Reddit over the weekend.

Netflix’s Joe Childs added: “I can’t put into words how much seeing Desus & Mero succeed meant to me, as someone who was born and raised in The Bronx. No matter what, the Bodega Boys did that. And I’m grateful for their run.”
