French Montana Talks Upcoming JAY-Z Feature Months After 2 Chainz Said He Was Left On Read

Getting in contact with JAY-Z seems like an impossible task unless you’re a part of his extremely tight-knit circle or have another rare means to get the God MC’s attention. Fellow NY rapper French Montana doesn’t seem to have that problem as he revealed there might be a song collab between the two on the way.

During a conversation on DJ Semtex’s Hip Hop Raised Me podcast, the Bronx native spoke on the possible collaboration and how much of a holy grail it is for him to get that done.

“The only person I haven’t worked with yet, and we just found the song – I mean, I worked with him on other people’s songs, but me and him never had like, you know, one of the Montana hooks, is JAY-Z,” French said right before claiming he found the right song that made Hov want to drop a feature.

French claimed he’s been going back-and-forth with Hov on the track, saying that the studio’s reaction to the record caused the Brooklyn legend to request some time to record a fresh 16.

“He was like ‘Let me get motivated to write 16 on this real quick,’” French said Hov told him after everyone’s positive reaction inside the studio.

One artist who may be salty that French got a response from Hov on a feature request is 2 Chainz. For his whole career, the Drench God made it a goal of his to get Hov on a song, but it just never came to fruition. However, for his latest studio album, So Help Me God!, the Atlanta superstar was confident Hov would drop off a feature after hearing “Southside Hov”, which samples Reasonable Doubt’s “Feelin’ It.” Unfortunately, Hov didn’t record a verse, and 2 Chainz was left hanging yet again.

2 Chainz Says He Gave Up On Getting A JAY-Z Verse After Sending ‘Southside Hov’ Didn’t Work

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, 2 Chainz spoke on finally giving up on his years-long quest to get the coveted JAY-Z feature.

“As far as trying to get him on something, I’ve given up on that part,” 2 Chainz told the morning show. “I don’t like rejection. I got this little mental thing, people that I deal with don’t even know this, where I might ask somebody something three times over my whole life, and secretly, after the third time, I won’t ever probably ask again.”
