Fat White Family, an English rock band that’s been around since 2011, are bitter. Over the years they’ve ignited beef with Mac DeMarco and IDLES, and now they’re doing the same with the rising New York outfit Geese.
On Instagram, Fat White Family screenshotted a Spotify playlist centered on South London’s windmill scene, and wrote, “Astounding that ‘Geese’ – NY kids so well connected their parents little black books would have made Epstein blush – find their way onto the ‘windmill scene’ playlist, whilst yours truly starves in the gutter, spindle in hand:(“
Weird stuff. Why do you even care about Spotify playlists? And anyway, Cameron Winter acknowledged his privilege (his mother is a bestselling author and his dad is a composer and sync library co-owner) in an interview with i-D earlier this year:
I don’t feel like I’ve ever really tried to hide the fact that I did not, in fact, come swinging from the slums of Yugoslavia or something like that. I just remember my dad working all the time when I was a kid and really sacrificing, and I figured that was why we were able to live pretty well. I’d probably have more of a complex about it if I tried to hide it. It’s nice being lucky.
