Gunna made his Saturday Night Live debut over the weekend with comedian/actor Jerrod Carmichael presenting the show. As well as performing music, Gunna appeared in a sketch alongside Pete Davidson, Simon Rex and Chris Redd about the appeal of short movies.
“These days, when I wanna sit down to watch a movie, I can find just about anything in the world. But night after night, there’s only one kinda movie I’m always looking for…” Davidson began, before rapping with Gunna. “And that’s a short-ass movie, a really short movie/Like, at most, an hour-forty, gimme that short-ass movie/A short-ass movie, a really short movie/’Cause you know I ain’t gon’ sit here and watch no long-ass movie.”
The song name-drops films such as Driving Miss Daisy, Lion King, Bad Moms, Austin Powers, Liar Liar and Punch-Drunk Love, while referencing The Batman’s long running time.
Netflix caught wind of the sketch and decided to make it an actual feature on the streaming platform. The company’s Netflix Is A Joke account quote tweeted the SNL video, writing “good idea” with a link to a “Short-Ass Movies” category on its website.
The page allows viewers to sift through films from various genres and categories that are less than two hours long.

Pete Davidison’s name has frequently been mentioned by Kanye West over the last few months due to his relationship with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, with Ye even cutting Kid Cudi from Donda 2 over his friendship with the comedian/actor. After the Gunna skit aired, many Twitter users wondered what it might mean for his chances of a Kanye West collaboration in the future.
“Wtf they got Gunna doing a song with Skete? Please don’t let Kanye see this,” one fan wrote, while others said, “kanye boutta give gunna the Cudi treatment” and “gunna has wrapped any chance of a kanye feature for atleast the next five years.”
