Posted by The devastating effects of COVID-19 have hit close to home for Ice-T, and he’s urging others to be more mindful in their attempts to prevent its spreading.
The legendary rapper appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (July 29) and the topic of the deadly pandemic came up. Talking to Fallon, Ice revealed he’s already lost around eight loved ones to the virus.
“It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, I can’t catch it,’ but once you know people, I mean…,” he said. “Jimmy, I know about eight people that have actually passed away. So, I mean, I don’t need much more proof than that to know I don’t want to play with it, you know?”
He explained people have made fun of him for being scared, but he doesn’t care what anyone calls it as he protects his family.
“I’ve made it through so much in my life,” he said. “I don’t want to die because of this and especially with a new daughter. So yeah, I’m aware and I’m concerned and I’m cautious. If you want to call that scared, call it scared.”

In March just weeks after quarantine began, Ice paid homage to 45-year-old Law & Order: Special Victims Unit staff member Josh Wallwork after he passed from COVID complications.
“I worked with Josh every day … MAN!” he wrote with a retweet of an article about Wallwork’s passing. “Pay attention people. #SVU.”
