Jack Harlow kicked off the rollout toward his sophomore album with the release of “Nail Tech” on Friday (February 18). The Louisville native clashes different worlds in the coinciding visual when he pays homage to DMX and impersonates late Apple CEO, Steve Jobs.
Horns courtesy of Boi-1da flood the start of the Frank Borin-directed clip with Harlow walking through a nail salon with Yung Miami, who plays his love interest in the visual. If there’s anyone who knows about healthy nails, it’s Jack Harlow as a Jack Harlow fingernails account exists on Instagram with nearly 1,000 followers.
Harlow then gets his Steve Jobs on by delivering a keynote speech while donning the Jobs signature fit of a black turtleneck, blue jeans and sneakers. There’s also a scene with the “WHATS POPPIN” rapper holding a few dogs on leashes, which can be looked at as a tribute to a famous photo of the late DMX.
In support of the single, Jack Harlow also touched base with Zane Lowe over at Apple Music where he spoke on his rise, “Nail Tech” setting the stage for his next album and why stopping drinking was one of the best decisions of his life.
“I deaded it and it’s one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made,” Harlow said of cutting out alcohol. “I’m more focused than ever. I tell people, it sounds crazy, but I’m feeling stronger than I felt. And what I noticed about it is it kind of numbs you, it kind of dulls you down in terms of excitement, in terms of happiness, in terms of anything. And now I feel raw feelings, I felt like when I was eight years old.”
