New York, NY – As Consequence prepare to release his next album, Nice Doing Business With You, the Tribe Called Quest affiliate decided to deliver the lead single from the project on Friday (June 10). Titled “Blood Stain,” the track is produced by his G.O.O.D. Music collaborator Kanye West and finds Cons rapping about growth and perseverance.
Consequence shared the single via Twitter, claiming it contained the “beat of the year” — and he’s on to something. On Sunday (June 12), Consequence ran into Jadakiss backstage at the Hot 97 Summer Jam who had some powerful words to share with Cons’ fans.
“‘Blood Stain’ is the hottest shit in the country, baby!” The LOX rapper says in the clip. “Hottest song, hottest track of the year. You know what it is — by far.”

Consequence collected his fourth Grammy Award at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for Kanye West’s “Hurricane” featuring The Weeknd and Lil Baby in April — although he wasn’t in attendance. Like Kanye, he opted to skip the ceremony but not out of any malice; he needed to preserve his energy for an upcoming video shoot and other travel commitments. Despite the controversy traditionally surrounding the Grammys and Hip Hop, he’s still grateful for the win.
“It’s like the honor roll on steroids,” he told HipHopDX at the time. “There’s a friend of mine, he always used to tell me, ‘You’re only good as your last game.’ And that’s a jewel I always carry with me. So it’s like no matter what … We fresh off of winning one for the gospel record [2019’s Jesus Is King].
“And that got me my second BMI Award and I think ‘Hurricane’ will probably give me the third one. The Donda cycle was completely different than what the gospel record was. Obviously, with the listening sessions and everything that’s going on and the hype was at an all-time high. It was crazy. It was crazy.”
Nice Doing Business With You was originally scheduled to be released in April but was delayed due to Consequence’s bout with COVID-19.
“For 4 nights My lungs were on Fire and I couldn’t sleep,” he revealed on Twitter last month. “Thankfully, the worst of it is behind me so I will be rescheduling the release date shortly.”
