JAY-Z is as elusive as its gets when it comes to social media but according to Funk Flex, there’s a reason for that. During a recent Instagram Live session with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, the veteran Hot 97 host was noticeably hyped up when he essentially took a shot at the Roc Nation mogul.
“You know why he can’t be on social media?” he says around the 17-minute mark. “Because he’s the most sensitive muthafucka on the planet and he can’t take n-ggas in his comments telling him the truth. He can’t take it. He can’t open up social media. You know what Jay does? He watches social media from a fake page. I’m giving you the truth.”
Funk Flex made some other interesting revelations during the course of their conversation. At the start of the video, he claimed Drake staged his infamous 2009 Hot 97 Blackberry freestyle, saying, “Me and Drake, we practiced that verse in the room already. He didn’t need the Blackberry because we practiced it in the room first, with no Blackberry! So, when the camera came out, he pulled out the Blackberry.”
He also was adamant Drake could’ve been the greatest rapper alive if the ghostwriting allegations he addressed during a 2019 Rap Radar interview weren’t uncovered.
“You know if those reference tracks would’ve never happened, Drake would be my favorite rapper of all time,” he said. “He would’ve surpassed JAY-Z in my book — if it wasn’t for the reference tracks. If those reference tracks did not come out, Drake was the number one rapper of all time! Do not get it fucked up!”
Funk Flex is getting ready to drop a star-studded album featuring the late King Von, 50 Cent, Tory Lanez, Post Malone, DaBaby, the late Pop Smoke, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, the late Juice WRLD and a slew of others.
