Kanye West has made no secret of his admiration for Apple visionary Steve Jobs, and now it appears he’s looking to expand his own billion-dollar Yeezy empire into the tech industry.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Kanye’s company has filed a trademark application to slap “Donda” — the name of his late mother, creative company and recently released tenth studio album — on a range of electronic products, including tablet computers, audio speakers and surround sound systems.
But that isn’t all. Kanye West is reportedly also planning to brandish “Donda” on wearable devices such as smartwatches, smart glasses and activity trackers, as well as wireless receivers in the form of jewelry and smart rings.

Mr. West isn’t just drawing inspiration from Steve Jobs and Apple. He’s apparently considering following in Dr. Dre‘s Beats By Dre footsteps by releasing “Donda”-branded earbuds, headphones and wireless headsets for both mobile phones and tablet computers.
Kanye’s foray into the tech industry could also include downloadable electronic publications in the form of books, magazines, journals, brochures, leaflets, pamphlets and newsletters covering music and entertainment news.
Granted, Kanye West has discussed numerous ambitious plans that have yet to come to fruition, such as designing and building amusement parks. But if his trademark application gets the green light and his foray into the tech industry is successful, his $1.8 billion net worth — built largely from his Yeezy fashion and sneaker company — is likely to grow even bigger.
Kanye fans got their first taste of Yeezy’s tech takeover in August when he released the innovative Donda stem player just days before his album of the same name hit streaming services by surprise.
The one-of-a-kind speaker device gives listeners full control over a song’s individual components — including drums, vocals, bass, samples and more — allowing them to curate their own unique listening experience and even add their own creative flair to their favorite songs.
