In news everyone saw coming, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kanye West on Friday (February 12). According to PEOPLE magazine, Ye has been texting back-and-forth with several of his close friends amid the split, “talking things through.”
A source reportedly said Kanye believes his failed bid for president last year is ultimately what cost him his marriage to the reality television star and SKIMS founder
“He’s in that place of ‘if only,’” the source says. “‘If only I had done this, if only I hadn’t done that.’ He’s processing things. He thinks that the presidential run was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Before that, there was hope. After that, none.”

The revelation really isn’t that shocking. In July 2020, the G.O.O.D. Music founder held his first campaign rally in South Carolina and wound up going on a tear-filled rant about Harriet Tubman and abortion. In the process, he admitted he tried to convince Kardashian to abort their first child North West using the Plan B pill.
As Ye began to cry, he screamed, “I almost killed my daughter!” Between tears, he said if it hadn’t been for a “vision of God,” he would have allowed North to be “murdered.”
He added, “”Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to,” he said. “She stood up and she protected that child.”
A source said at the time, Kardashian was “shocked” Kanye spoke about North at the rally and “furious that he shared something so private.”
Following the bombshell admission, Yeezy continued his bizarre comments on Twitter, calling mother-in-law Kris Jenner a white supremacist and accusing Kardashian of having an affair with Meek Mill. As a result, Kardashian addressed her husband’s bipolar disorder in an Instagram post, asking people for compassion.
