Illinois – Kanye West hasn’t given up on his presidential bid in multiple states, but he’s facing some blowback in Illinois. According to TMZ, three objections have been filed with the Illinois Board of Elections over his petition to get on the ballot in his home state.
Sean Tenner, a 46th Ward Democratic Committeeman, was among those questioning the legitimacy of Yeezy’s petition signatures. After viewing about 3,200 signatures, Tenner told TMZ less than 1,000 of them are valid.
To be on the Illinois ballot, Kanye needed to collect 2,500 signatures. He reportedly spent over $30,000 on the petition, paying people $10-12 per signature.
Every signature on the 412 petition papers submitted can be objected for a variety of reasons. Duplicates and fake names could prevent Kanye from qualifying for the Illinois ballot.
While the G.O.O.D. Music founder is having trouble in Illinois, he successfully got on the presidential ballot for Oklahoma. He’s also submitted enough signatures to get on the ballots in Missouri and New Jersey but could face more objections.
Although Kanye might get on the ballot in a few states, he has no chance of being a voting option for the entire country. In his attempt to be an independent candidate, he’s already missed the deadline to submit signatures in key states such as Florida and Michigan.
