Karen Salicath Jamali Intertwines Prayer and Piano in 2026

There’s a reason piano compositions are often described as medicine without a prescription. Soft, instrumental piano music can lower cortisol levels, regulate heart rate, and gently guide the nervous system towards calm. The absence of lyrics leaves space for projection; the simplicity of melody allows emotion to move without obstruction. In other words, piano music doesn’t tell you what to feel — it creates room for you to feel it.

That delicate balance between silence and feeling defines Karen Salicath Jamali’s artistic practice.

For Salicath, music is not composed in the traditional sense. Following a near-death experience in 2012, the Danish-born, New York– and Florida–based composer began experiencing melodies in her dreams, a process that continues to define her intuitive approach. Her work exists at the intersection of spirituality and minimalism, where repetition becomes prayer and silence carries equal weight to sound.

She opened 2026 with “Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of New Beginnings),” released January 29 as her first single of the year. Designed as what she calls an “opening gate,” the piece acts as a deliberate reset. According to Jamali in her official release announcement to fans, the composition “was received in a dream just before the New Year and recorded at dawn, early in the morning as the birds began to sing — capturing the quiet transition between night and day.”

The fragile passage between night and morning becomes the composition’s guiding force. “That moment, when night turns into day, carries a very special energy for me, and I wanted to capture that first breath, that clean freshness, in the sound,” she said in her official announcement.

Rooted in the symbolism of Angel Sandalphon, often described as the celestial mediator of music and prayer, the composition carries more than surface meaning. In various teachings, Sandalphon is believed to gather the prayers of humanity and lift them upward, transforming whispered hopes into something radiant and eternal. The soft piano lines hover between remembrance and renewal. It’s a duality that mirrors Sandalphon’s spiritual role: guardian of what has been, guide towards what can begin again.

With more than 10 million streams, a global audience surpassing 100,000, and a new partnership with EMPIRE and KOSIGN powered by Kobalt Music Group, Salicath steps into 2026 guided by clarity.
