Kevin Hart and Charlamagne Tha God are coming to Audible. The duo’s newfound audio production company SBH Productions announced on Monday (February 7) the pair will release 5 new original projects to the audiobook platform in 2022.
“SBH has the opportunity to be a driving force and new creative outlet for our culture,” Kevin Hart said in a press release. “This vertical allows us to bring the voices of our community masses and to share our rich stories that run deep in our souls. I am excited to partner with Charlamagne… and the whole SBH team to bring these rich stories to the Audible original space.”
The first project from the duo will be Finding Tamika, an Audible original that deconstructs why the media fails to properly cover murdered or missing Black women. Slated for release on March 3, multiple projects will then follow throughout the year including Short, Black and Handsome a scripted comedy starring the SBH heads as two fathers who become business partners.
“SBH and Audible are at the forefront of the audio renaissance, often times TV and film companies don’t SEE the vision for these great stories by black creatives so they are hard to get made,” said Charlamagne Tha God in a statement. “What… Kevin and myself along with the rest of team at SBH have built is a space for these companies and the whole world to HEAR our vision. We thank GOD for it all!”
The announcement comes after Deadline revealed on Friday (February 4) Kevin Hart would also be co-creating an animated HBO Max series titled Storytown. The musically centered adult animation series focuses on a troubled kid and his grandfather who aims to educate him on some of life’s biggest lessons via rap fairytale narratives.
