There has been an outpouring of love and support from the Hip Hop community following the tragic death of beloved actor Michael K. Williams. MKW passed away on Monday (September 6) at 54 years old when he was found in his Brooklyn penthouse dead from a suspected drug overdose.
Plenty of tributes have made their way to social media with artists sharing their unique experiences with the Brooklyn native and appreciations for The Wire actor.
Heartfelt posts have been made within the last day honoring the late Brooklyn native by the likes of Kid Cudi, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, T.I., Swizz Beatz, Killer Mike, Ice-T, Chuck D, LL Cool J, Idris Elba, Stretch Armstrong, Angie Martinez, Miguel, Skyzoo, DJ Paul, Mickey Factz, Ebro Darden and more.

Michael K. Williams is currently nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in Lovecraft Country. In addition to starring in The Wire, he also flourished in movies and television shows such as Boardwalk Empire, 12 Years A Slave, The Gambler, Law & Order and more.

Many of us in the NYC club community knew Michael K from clubbing. When his star rose as one of his generation’s most compelling actors, we all felt like we won. And even as his star continued to rise, he remained the same guy so many of us met on the dance floor.
