Lil Nas X doesn’t flinch when incorporating his sexuality into his artistry. With the “Old Town Road” rapper breaking down barriers as an emerging superstar, he was named one of Time‘s 100 most influential people of 2021. His tribute was given by none other than Kid Cudi, who is slated to collaborate with Lil Nas X on MONTERO‘s deluxe.
Cudder showed the Columbia signee a ton of love and praised him for his bravery and creative freedom when it comes to his music.
“To have a gay man in hip-hop doing his thing, crushing records—that is huge for us and for Black excellence,” Kid Cudi said. “The way he’s unafraid to make people uncomfortable is so rock ’n’ roll. He’s a true rock star.”

The Ohio native believes Lil Nas X will play a major role in the acceptance of gay artists in rap.
He continued, “There’s a homophobic cloud over hip-hop, and he’s going to break that sh-t down. We have to stand with him. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to let him know—you have my support. When we do our song together, however trippy the video is, let’s get sexy with it.”
