Two days ahead of its previously released date for free download and across all digital platforms, Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike and El-P see no reason to let the climate go any longer with their new album, RTJ4.
And thus, the project has been unveiled early.
“Fuck it, why wait?” the duo asks in a joint statement. “The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving 2 friends the chance to be heard and do what they love.
With sincere love and gratitude, Jaime and Mike.”
The album serves as the direct follow-up to 2016’s RTJ3 and features collaborations and contributions from Pharrell Williams, DJ Premier, 2 Chainz, Gangsta Boo, Zack de la Rocha, Mavis Staples, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and more.
The musical contents notwithstanding, fans — longtime or not — should understand where Mike and El-P stand regarding the nationwide turmoil engulfing the nation. Run The Jewels have provided a list of organizations on their official website that fight for racial equality in America.
